The scholarships will be part of a series of activities that will be announced during ‘Creativity Week’ at Victoria in November 2016, to encourage and acknowledge the creative output of Victoria students and staff.
Purpose of award
To celebrate the work of five undergraduate students who have distinguished themselves for their exceptional creativity by leading an outstanding creative project, activity or practice within the past year.
All undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The student will need to be able to demonstrate that they have completed an exceptional creative project, activity or practice within the last year. The project or activity could be in any discipline but it must be something which demonstrates that they have achieved creative success above their standard course assessments. - That the project or activity is built on sound academic rigor
Applications are specifically encouraged from students from across all schools and faculties, Maori and Pasifika students, international students and students with disabilities.
How do students apply?
A one page application should be submitted that outlines:
- A description of the project or activity
- An outline of the creative process involved in this project or activity and the context in which it was created (for example, through course related activity, extracurricular)
- Why it is a great example of unruly thinking, creativity, interdisciplinarity
- What the student would like to do next and how winning this award would help them to advance or fine tune their project or activity
- An explanation of why the project is built from excellent academic rigor
- An endorsement from an academic lecturer
The selection panel who will shortlist the applicants will be an interdisciplinary team from the ‘Cultivating creative Capital’ steering group- Marco Sonzogni, Rebecca Priestley, Lisa Terreni, Dugal McKinnon. The final decision making panel will also include Pro Vice-Chancellor Jennifer Windsor and an external creative partner, to be confirmed.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
November 2016, during ‘Creativity Week’ at Victoria. These scholarships will be announced by Victoria’s new visiting ‘Creativity Ambassador’ at an award ceremony.
